Charissa Lopez  (license #73709) offers hope, healing, connection, and growth to those who are hurting and struggling through a variety of counseling services including: EMDR, Child Centered Play Therapy, Theraplay, Parent Coaching, Individual Counseling, and Individual and Group Equine Therapy. She also offers Trauma Informed Care trainings for non-profits, schools, and organizations. She has worked with local school systems, non-profit staff and leadership, first responders, recovery groups, and communities with the legal system. She also offers small group leadership training and speaks at church conferences where she regularly teaches on topics of faith and recovery with an emphasis on the intersection of spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical dynamics. Charissa also speaks to the community on a variety of topics and provides continuing education opportunities to mental health professionals. She is also trained in Collaborative Divorce and acts as a Child Specialist.

Charissa is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor in private practice in the Caddo Office building in East Dallas. She graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Letters with distinction. She also earned a Master of Arts in Biblical Studies with honors and a Master of Arts in Biblical Counseling with honors from Dallas Theological Seminary.

Charissa is a Registered Play Therapist. She loves working with kids and adolescents using child centered play therapy, Theraplay, sand tray, EMDR, and other creative interventions. She has over a decade of experience mentoring and coaching teens. She has been working as a parenting coach since 2012.

Charissa was involved with recovery ministry and 12-Step Groups from 2007-2020, with specific training in the Celebrate Recovery program. She served on the Board of Directors at Recovery for Life and was the Director at Recovery for Life at Northwest Bible Church in Dallas, TX for 3 years. She formerly founded/co-led Journey Groups (a grief and recovery ministry) at c|life church in Sunnyvale and Forney, TX.

She is trained in equine therapy and loves partnering with Jake E’s Riding Round-Up in Kaufman, TX.

Charissa uses an innovative approach in working with groups by combining recovery concepts, process group principles, and experiential therapies. She also provides group EMDR sessions for teams who have undergone trauma, high stress, or difficult situations.

Charissa regularly teaches on topics of faith with an emphasis on the intersection of spiritual, mental, emotional and physical dynamics.

Her passion is to come alongside those who are hurting and struggling to help them find truth, hope, healing, connection, and growth.
